Serpico is a cop in the 1960s-early 1970s. Unlike all his colleagues, he refuses a share of the money that the cops routinely extort from local criminals. Nobody wants to work with Serpico, and he's in constant danger of being placed in life threatening positions by his "partners". Nothing seems to get done even when he goes to the highest of authorities. Despite the dangers he finds himself in, he still refuses to 'go with the flow', in the hope that one day, the truth will be known.

Frank Serpico is one of the men I look up too. I've never taken a bullet to the face for the truth but I'd like to believe I would if I had too. Not many people would...but they do exist. Read the book by Peter Maas. - @Tuesday, October 9, 2018 9:50 PM

SERPICO. Is One of the Best and truly Police movies in the history. But my humble opinion SERPICO should been a Serie TV too like you know you... THE ROCKIES, or KOJAK or SWAT or Whatever those classic TV series, that would been Fantastic, but never been done 😢 - @Saturday, April 14, 2018 5:18 AM

That "non-conformity" you are lamenting is givng us the likes of Jesse and Al, BLM, NOW, liberal lawsuits, and the never-wonderful, political-correctness.( which is the minority version of segregation.) - @Sunday, October 30, 2016 12:21 AM

I always wished Lumet had made a movie about the 'Circle of Six' case in the time he did SERPICO and PRINCE OF THE CITY. Because, believe me, it would NEVER get made now. In 1972 the Nation of Islam set a trap, ambushed and brutally attacked a group of NYPD officers, murdering one of them with his own service revolver. This incident was quickly covered up by Mayor Lindsay, Louis Farrakhan and the Democrats in City Hall. Eventually it was down to one of the officers who survived the attack and a young Nation of Islam member to bring some sort of justice for this despicable crime. It's a phenomenal story that very, very few people even know about. - @Tuesday, September 13, 2016 1:09 AM
