7.1 / 10

Seve combines dramatic recreations with electrifying archive footage to tell his incredible rags to riches story; from humble beginnings on the beaches of Spain, where aged six he taught himself the game with a broken 3 iron strapped to a stick, to becoming world number one and the greatest golfer of a generation. Directed by John-Paul Davidson (Stephen Fry in America, Brazil with Michael Palin) and edited by Saska Simpson (The Three Kings, Paranormal Witness) with original score by Academy Award winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love), Seve is produced by Stephen Evans (Much Ado About Nothing, BAFTA nominated The Madness of King George and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) with the full support of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation.

Seve the Movie gives a look into the life of legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros and also into what it takes to succeed at the highest level. The film combines dramatic recreations with archive footage to tell Seve’s rags to riches story and show his fight to become one of the most spectacular and charismatic golfers in history. The film was beautifully done and had me leaving the theater feeling inspired and with a new found love for golf. I was not a huge golf fan going into this film but by the end I had a change of heart and a newfound love for the game. - @Monday, April 25, 2016 7:03 AM

SEVE: The movie is a great film that will inspire anybody with a passion for something. The passion that shows forth throughout the film is inspiring and makes you want to leave the theater and go find your own passion. I loved the background that we got about Seve’s family and how supportive they were of him throughout his whole life. It was awesome to see Seve rise from such humble beginnings to the golf legend that he is today and will remain for a long time to come. - @Friday, April 22, 2016 4:01 PM

SO I did some googling. And this film REALLY covers Seve Ballesteros’ life! Furthermore, it is an awesome tribute to anyone that spends their life dreaming big and actually working toward that dream. I live in an extremely small town and I really want to make it as a musician someday, and to see a film about a professional GOLFER and feel this inspired to achieve my dream is shocking to me. I never thought a film about a sport I’ve never played would have such an impact on my perspective. Seriously watch the film if you’re in a rut and looking for some push in your own life. If a kid growing up on a farm on an island outside of Spain can become the number one golfer in the world, I can definitely do anything I put my mind to. - @Thursday, April 21, 2016 11:47 PM

Seve: The Movie serves as a wonderful tribute to one of the arguably hardest working and charismatic golfers. From golfing tirelessly along the beaches of Pedrena, Spain, to sneaking onto golf courses to practice further at night, the film reveals the passion that lead to Ballesteros becoming an icon. Director John-Paul Davidson interweaves archival footage with dramatizations to give a full picture of Ballesteros life, from a young man determined to become a pro golfer, to a champion participating in the US Masters and British Open. This film was a joy to watch, and lives up to the greatest sports films out there. - @Wednesday, April 20, 2016 9:33 PM

I'm not even a fan of golf, but this film was one of the greatest sports films I've seen in a while. The biopic is a mix of acted out scenes and real-life footage/testimony of Seve Ballesteros himself, which made the film really authentic. Ballesteros' story is truly inspiring and will definitely motivate you to push yourself towards your dreams. I learned so much about the athlete, and the film will show you exactly why he became a world champion. The film is now on itunes and amazon for anyone who has not seen it! - @Tuesday, April 19, 2016 11:08 PM

Normally, I would say that watching golf is not a fun activity. But Seve: The Movie goes beyond that. While incorporating real clips of Seve Ballesteros at various tournaments, it is also the unique story of his childhood and how he came to love the game. It’s inspirational, and definitely makes you want to go out and play. The film showcases Ballesteros’ struggle growing up and how he overcame those struggles to do what he loved best. I highly recommend this film! - @Tuesday, April 19, 2016 11:02 PM

I only caught up with this Movie in September 2015 & I enjoyed it immensely. The story was heart warming with a very sad ending, but on the whole was truly inspirational. - @Monday, September 21, 2015 9:06 AM

Regardless of whether you are a golf fan or not you cannot help but admire the career of and the man that was Severiano Ballesteros. Part acted life story , part documentary this film shows the life of charismatic Seve . I wasn't sure if the acted life story part would work but it does and the young Seve played by José Luis Gutiérrez is totally convincing. The archive footage is great to watch but as you would expect last 15 minutes are heart wrenching . Recommended  8 out of 10 - @Wednesday, November 19, 2014 5:30 PM
