Silent Hill 2 was about James looking for his wife. Silent Hill 3 was a direct sequel of the 1st game (the only time this is done in this series that I know of) where Harry's daughter is the focal point and is chosen to come back and face the evil of silent hill. - @Thursday, November 1, 2012 1:56 AM

The only thing I don't like is it seems like they're intertwining the games too much. The characters are separate w/their own separate hells. This is becoming it's own story in of itself away from the game, w/it's own focal point (for instance, how Silent Hill came to be such a place of torment, the movie severely differs from the game there). BUT the elements are so strongly plucked from the games themselves. You feel the atmosphere of Silent Hill when watching this and I'm excited nonetheless. - @Thursday, November 1, 2012 1:52 AM

All the Silent Hill games are not directly connected. Always different characters with different back stories and their own reasons for being caught in this hell. The only constant is Silent Hill itself and some of the experiences can be similar (i.e. Pyramid Head, multiple references and then appearance by Walter Sullivan, etc...) I don't know if they'll try to connect this one to the last movie, but it does seem primarily focused on Silent Hill 3 with elements from all of the different games. - @Thursday, November 1, 2012 1:45 AM

No Silent Hill movies are pure garbage, because they did not get a single thing correct from the games. I did not see this movie yet but I can tell you that it is nothing like the game. 1. vincent looks like the sterotypical american horror love interest 2. i watched it.. its cheesy but the monster scene are awesome... it answers questions to tie this and the previous one and an ending that will leave you pretty exciting ... This is number 3 on the list of movie types that should not be made: movies based of video games. They have a habit of changing the story a little bit. However it’s good for marketing because if someone has never played the game but seen the movie and then find out about the game and want to play it.
