The sign of a good horror movie....spoil the entire thing by showing every kill in the trailer but it still goes on to become a classic - @Friday, December 8, 2017 7:20 AM

TriStar Pictures was ashamed of this movie, that they immediately sold the rights to this movie after it got pulled from theaters. Which is why the TriStar logo doesn't appear on any of the home video prints of this movie. They obviously didn't want anything to do with this movie. - @Tuesday, December 5, 2017 6:22 AM

As a child of the 80s and never having actually seen the film the trailer makes it look cheesy but I guess for being both cheesy and campy it fit the times . - @Wednesday, September 20, 2017 6:07 PM

I think the better plot would've been instead of another guy going on murderous rampage, he instead has two targets. Mother Superior, and the Santa cosplayer who killed his parents? - @Monday, July 17, 2017 1:41 AM

This trailer has some admittedly, genuinely creepy and effective moments in it.  I've never seen the movie, but I'm well aware of the controversy surrounding it when it came out.  I grew up as a teenager in the late eighties and I can remember passing this movie by and ignoring it in the video store a thousand times.  I remember people during that time saying bad AND good things about it, actually.  Usually with audiences, there were mixed reviews, with most critics, unanimous hatred of it.  The bad reviews, I guess, just always turned me off from seeing it.  Now, for whatever reason, I'm actually kind of curious about watching it.  Well, I've always been a fan of slasher films...like I said, I was an eighties child and they were wildly popular then.  Besides, I like the scare aspect about them, not the blood and guts stuff (I also love ghost and haunted house stories). - @Saturday, May 6, 2017 7:32 PM

Creepy Christmas trailer. I mean I like the Jason voorhees Freddy Krueger stuff, but this trailer is horrible. The kids would be scared the shit out of each other. - @Wednesday, March 1, 2017 2:50 PM

TRIVA: The films original title was "Slayride" unit TriStar Pictures changed it to "Silent Night, Deadly Night" at the last minuet. Robert Brian Wilson who played Billy felt ashamed of the plot focusing more in the murders that Billy's physocpathic plot that he told all his friends and family to avoid seeing the film. Many of the death scenes where directed by editor Michael Spence because director Charles E. Sellier Jr. was really uncomfortable directing the heavy gore parts. Mother Superior's actress Lilyan Chauvin felt ashamed on the film focusing on more of the Santa Claus murders and said the film should have focused more on Billy's psychopathic plot. Sam Raimi (who directed The Evil Dead) was asked to direct the film but he declined. - @Wednesday, March 16, 2016 5:52 PM

The TV spot, although tame, shows Santa with an axe breaking through a door. Other shots show a gun obviously in Santa's hand. The TV spot was shown in prime time and got the attention of mothers because their kids saw the images of Santa as a killer. The Siskel and Ebert review brings up the fact of there being one spot and only being shown for one week. This is what I remember from reading about it in the newspaper during the boycott. The TV spot drew the attention to the trailer and content of the film. The film really wasn't much different or more horrifying than what had been in slasher films in the previous five years. I will try to post the radio spot soon. - @Sunday, November 8, 2015 2:03 PM
