What a PIECE-A-SHIT- of a fucking film. Why all the secrecy surrounding the pain that was inflicted upon our ABORIGINAL MEN and our ABORIGINAL WOMEN by white settlers. Why are you hiding 'the brutal pain' our people experienced at the hands of white settlers Warwick thornton and who are you afraid to offend with the truth...? Aboriginal people should be in an uproar about this film and how you projected our peoples PAIN in this film. Rolf De Heer did the same bullshit in one of his films, rather than show our people being brutally massacred by white people, he showed visual artistic paintings of a massacre that took place. Why is it so hard for you arsehole filmmakers to show the real atrocities that white Australians inflicted upon Aboriginals. Why FUCKING hide the true pain of our people behind 50 seconds of blacked out movie screen and boiling billy. This is not clever. Its a coconut idea to secure funding for your next film. Film is about playing on audiences emotions, visually. AND why in GODS name did you leave the rape scene up to the audiences imagination to interpret. Audiences who are left to interpret the 50seconds of rape through a blacked out screen may think the Aboriginal woman was not raped because at no stage in the darkness was she vocal (he was but she wasn't) HOW DARE YOU! In my opinion, as an Aboriginal person, this film did not deserve any awards.....unless of course they gave these awards to you for deliberately not showing the atrocities that white settlers inflicted upon our people.........then of course you deserve it. - @Tuesday, November 13, 2018 10:25 AM

People saying how much the trailer gives away shows only pure ignorance of historical elements. With the rise of nationalists globally being portrayed as patriots, not surprised this movie did not get world wide attention as it should have. Great movie, the history books paint a much darker image as you can imagine of illegal occupiers. Something every occupied country can attest to. Just wondering when they'll do a movie on what the mad Dutch King did to the Congolese, it would get an R rating if any. See this movie, it's fucking fantastic and heart breaking. - @Sunday, July 1, 2018 9:49 AM

I think Aussie and Kiwi film making is the best in the world - even the native actors outshine the rest. Support your industry, it makes wonderful human films and incredibly beautiful and powerful stories that get to the core of who we were and who we are now. Sam Neill Hamilton Morriss and Bryan Brown should be honoured by the film industry, instead of weird nonsensical stuff that nobody really feels anything about. I love these guys X - @Friday, March 9, 2018 8:34 PM

So good we are making indigenous movies every year, especially since there have been far too many films detailing the hardship and sacrifices of the convict experience in Australia. That big movie about the horrors of the First Fleet that came out last year for example. Australians know far too much about our convict founding, and not enough about aboriginals. BTW l'm being sarcastic. - @Tuesday, January 16, 2018 3:54 AM

Oz Film Festival
Oz Film Festival @Regent St Cinema London Saturday 27 January 2018, 7:30pm Director: Warwick Thornton 113 min Rated 15+ http://www.ozfilmfest.com/ Join us for a double bill screening for our Australia Day celebration. This preview screening coincides with the Australian cinematic release, and is supported by Thunderbird Releasing, ahead of a UK release in March 2018. Winner Venice Special Jury Prize & Platform Prize at Toronto 2017. Warwick Thornton’s follow up feature film to the brilliant Samson and Delilah (2009) is well worth the wait. Set in the wild frontier of 1920s Northern Territory, where men are wild and hungry to establish themselves as masters of the harsh environment, the story centres on an older aboriginal man who shoots a white man in self-defence and the subsequent hunt for him by the men that rule the area. Visceral and haunting, with stunning cinematography and powerful performances from Sam Neil, Bryan Brown and Hamilton Harris, this film will keep audiences transfixed. - @Thursday, January 11, 2018 12:54 AM

Such an amazing film and story. So grateful for everyone who made Sam's story possible to be told and brought to the big screen for everyone to see. Thank you for giving us a more accurate depiction of history and sharing the story of the aboriginal people of Australia. Sam's story will always be in my heart! <3 - @Friday, October 13, 2017 9:21 AM
