Melanie Carmichael, an up and rising fashion designer in New York, has gotten almost everything she wished for since she was little. She has a great career and the JFK-like fiancée of New York City. But when he proposes to her, she doesn't forget about her family back down South. More importantly, her husband back there, who refuses to divorce her ever since she sent divorce papers seven years ago. To set matters straight, she decides to go to the south quick and make him sign the papers. When things don't turn out the way she planned them, she realizes that what she had before in the south was far more perfect than the life she had in New York City.

I remember this story I read years ago on fanfiction. This girl was happy with her life in New York with a good job and boyfriend but returned to Boston for a friend's wedding and remembered the fun she had there. While there she reconnected with an old friend who was in love with her from the moment they met but she had always rejected. He poured his heart out to her only to have it broken. She was left confused as she loved him too and a friend made her realize she was trying to decide between her safe predictable life and one of uncertainty. She returned to New York to break up with her boyfriend then came back to Boston to finally get with her friend. It was even in the same place they met though that was coincidence. I still watch this movie( I love it) Reminds me a lot of my real life story. My hubby is from Alabama and I am that stubborn yankee bitch. We meet when I was 15 and he also asked me to marry him that same year. We got married when I was 18 had 2 kids, things fell apart when the kids were really young. Long story short we got remarried last year. I am a lucky girl to have this southern man in my life. We will move to Alabama so he can be back HOME. He has missed his southern roots.
