Israel never gave the land for egypt for peace. Many israelis claim that Israel gave back sinai to Egypt because it loves peace and doesn't want war or that the USA forced it to do so - a Contradiction - but one that can be easily debunked. Before the war Egypt asked many times for it’s land in return for peace but Israel refused. 1- A representative to the United Nations Gunnar Jarring has suggested that Israel gives back the Sinai to Egypt. In return Egypt would not go to war with Israel, also starting a serious peace negotiation and allowing Israel to use the Suez canal.President Sadat accepted that but Golda Meir didn't, she and moshe dayan were very arrogant about the capabilities of the IDF, thinking Egypt didn’t pose a threat to them. 2- Also there was a meeting between the United States Secretary of State, National Security advisor Henry Kissinger and Ahmad Ismail Ali, the Commander-in-Chief of Egypt's army. The Egyptian side asked for the return of their land, in exchange stopping the war with Israel, a "war of attrition". Later Henry Kissinger informed Golda Meir about that and once again she refused So what changed after the war, did Israel became more of a peace lover? NO, Egypt made them bleed hard and know that Egypt will not stop fighting till Sinai is back. what happened to Moshe Dayan's famous quote: "Sharm-al-Sheikh without peace is preferred over a peace without Sharm-al-Sheikh." Why did he change his mind? Looks like his views that the Egyptian army didn't pose a threat and if attacked the IDF will easily defeat them was abolished and he came up with a new quote "this is destruction of the third Temple". do the math Israel lost 2600 killed in only three weeks which per capita is equal to three times the number of Americans who died in Vietnam over 10 years. In 1973 Egypt didn't attack Israel, Egypt fought to get her stolen Sinai back the land that'd been stolen in a similar Israeli propaganda claiming that they were going to be attacked while Egypt could not have afforded another war after Vietnam war.. After the invasion, president Sadat offered a peace deal if the Israelis withdrew, but the Israelis said literally "we prefer war"..
