Edmond Dantes is imprisoned in the Chateau d'If without trial, for carrying a message from Napoleon in exile on Elba. After being told that he died in prison, his fiancé Mercedes is forced to marry his rival Count Mondego. Twenty years later, Dantes escapes with the help of the Abbe Faria, who leaves him the treasure of Monte Cristo. Dantes, now called the Count of Monte Cristo, plans his revenge on the three who framed him.

This sounds an awful lot like the music used in the Sherlock Holmes films starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. - @Thursday, June 13, 2013 9:56 PM

I have total respect for this movie! I haven't watched it yet, but I'm planning on it soon. Any old classic movie deserves respect for what technology they had back then. But with all that said I have to say my favorite is the most recently made with Jim Caviezel. In the film industry, visual and audio are everything to make a good film. Just take Avatar for example. The newer Count of Monte Cristo soundtrack is the most moving and amazing music my ears have ever heard! <3 - @Thursday, March 21, 2013 5:55 AM

This is what I hate and despise about You Tube and the greedy corporated scum from Warner Brothers and Paramount who don't have the class or decency to allow old movies on the web. Why doesn't YT have a "TV Guide" type of format? If the movies is on the Internet it's almost a search and destroy mission looking for the damn things. And when I do a search for a movie I don't want to see all that other useless crap that has absolutely nothing to do with my search. Actually, this is the 1948 reissue trailer, when Eagle-Lion was the distributor; United Artists originally released the film in '34. - @Friday, August 17, 2012 7:58 PM
