Best movie I've ever seen - @Thursday, January 17, 2013 5:08 AM

- @Friday, March 12, 2010 5:40 AM

SpeedyTurtle, I've removed all my other posts b/c I don't have time to explain historical fact to you bone-headed liberal idiots anymore. Having said that, if you'd read my previous posts you'd know that I've NEVER seen the movie and that I was responding to someone that was stupid enough to say "liberals have no say in what movies come out of hollywood." The fact is that hollywood is overrun by left-leaning wack jobs and to deny that either takes some balls or a full frontal lobotomy!!! - @Thursday, August 20, 2009 1:00 PM

It's a MOVIE. For God's sake, if anyone thinks Hollywood produces accurate or politically neutral material for people to use when deciding to vote, then you should be disallowed voting due to mental illness. Try to enjoy the MOVIE. - @Friday, August 7, 2009 9:14 PM

I'm slightly disgusted to see how much the term "liberal" and "commie" being thrown around with such negative connotations. I consider myself a "liberal" and yet have nothing but the utmost respect for our soldiers. If liberals have a problem with the war, its about the political reasons behind it (or lack of) It'd be nice to see someone offer a different perspective to a predominately conservative audience such as this without being label "Hippie/commie/faggot" - @Wednesday, August 5, 2009 6:15 AM

great point here, sonorusa, and while you're at it why not resuscitate the bogey man, too? label the efforts to correct the ills inflicted by past administrations "communism" because you're too afraid/too simple-minded to address the real problem--the policies (and i use the term loosely) of the last administration have left this country on its knees. yeah, you're right--what we really need is the next version of the cold war--how's that for political references? - @Tuesday, July 28, 2009 8:08 AM

RGSS
I thought I setting you up with the John Wayne comment. But you know your recent history. A lot of people would have taking the bait. My point about the word communism/marxist doesn't really have the same power as it once did. If you use it on someone 25 or younger they will likely give you a blank stare. The railing against communism pretty much stopped in the late 80's. Most people in their 20's barely if at all remember the Berlin wall coming down. It is an antiquated term. - @Monday, July 27, 2009 10:15 PM

Sonor
take your pick, there are so many. Redacted comes to mind. I guess when you see only one view, you can't even see the bias right in front of your face. John Wayne wasn't but James Stewart was a huge war hero. The communist bit huh? Meanwhile a Marxist has nationalized the auto industry and is trying to take over health care! - @Monday, July 27, 2009 3:06 PM

RGSS
misinformation huh? What movie was this now? Please name so I can better understand and identify this liberal bias. What was Joe McCarthy right about? He was he drunk paranoid idiot that got put in his place after ruining 100's of lives. Give up the everybody is a communist bit. It just sounds funny today it doesn't work anymore. Next you will tell that John Wayne was a great veteran of WWII. - @Monday, July 27, 2009 1:52 PM

RGSS
Explain to me what a liberal bias is in the war film. So you think after watching Americans lose their lives and limbs for the last 7 years that Americans want to go the movie theater and rehash the whole ordeal over $5 soda's and $8 buckets of popcorn. WWII movies made from 39-80's didn't really give the audience a full appreciation of what a nasty brutal battlefield death was like for the person and those witnessing it 1st hand. Is a real depiction of war anti-American propaganda? - @Sunday, July 26, 2009 6:35 PM

RGSS
The subject is very violent and too recent. It's not historic enough yet. Theaters want asses in the buckets and this movie will not have wide spread appeal. In large part this subject is not entertainment for war weary Americans. It's real and can be seen on news channels. Graphic war pictures don't work that well with the war still on going and Americans still dying. Liberals don't have any say so over the movies that are shown in theaters. Dollars determine that. - @Saturday, July 25, 2009 11:17 PM

Don't forget folks. People i.e., Speedyturtle is one of the reasons we fight and die. So that Americans have the freedom to say just about anything they care to with no fear of reprisal. Veteran, US Army, Viet Nam Era - @Thursday, July 23, 2009 10:10 PM

You're pretty much describing the film there - it's an astonishing journey of a man unable to adjust to civilian life, pushing himself and the safety of his fellow soldiers to the edge in order to try and find some meaning in what war has made him. It doesn't glorify war at all, but spends it's time in the mind of a man emotionally destroyed by his experiences. I really think you'd find a lot to admire in the film. - @Saturday, June 27, 2009 12:47 AM

TheGreatUrameshi13
I think the days of movies glorifying war are over. What I'm hoping for this movie is that it shows civvies what it's like to be on the front lines so they have a better appreciation for what the military does. - @Thursday, June 25, 2009 3:17 AM

I'm hoping this gets a wide release so I can actually go and see it. If not, I guess I'll just wait for it to hit DVD. - @Thursday, June 25, 2009 3:15 AM

Who are the actors? I have never seen any of them before. As a Vietnam vet, it seems like another movie to glorify war. There is an old saying, War poisons the soul. As a combat vet, I was never the same after I came back after my second tour. At first you think your alright, but as the years go on, you realize that you are not. I know I will get flack for this, but it is true. Old men make wars, young men die. - @Wednesday, June 24, 2009 8:42 PM
