A regular family - Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three kids - travel to Thailand to spend Christmas. They get an upgrade to a villa on the coastline. After settling in and exchanging gifts, they go to the pool, like so many other tourists. A perfect paradise vacation until a distant noise becomes a roar. There is no time to escape from the tsunami; Maria and her eldest are swept one way, Henry and the youngest another. Who will survive, and what will become of them?

Guys, I just watched the movie and wow I’m touched, it’s so beautiful (no spoilers), and so much perseverance! So much! And the fact that it’s a true story just melts my heart even more, I heard that in the real life situation over a quarter of a million died is this tsunami! God bless everyone who went through that situation! God bless you, now I’m not gonna lie , if I didn’t know that it was a true story I wouldn’t have cried. But, because it was true it really touched my heart. Now I have been in a tsunami a very little one and I almost shattered my leg, because I saw all the water in the sea disappearing and I was thinking ‘What is going on hear’? And I looked closer. Big mistake when you see the water disappearing , you run and run and run and run until you physically can’t go any more, I have done years and years of training with my personal trainer. So I ran for my life, picked up my litter brother and sister and ran. I shouted for my parents to run and they did so. The tsunami hit me hit me hard, I nearly shattered my left leg, however my right leg broke, I’m fine now because that was 1 year ago. But I covered my siblings bodies under my’n to protect my family. Fun fact: that Tsunami was far far away from Thailand. It's just like an side-effect from the main event. The epicentrum was only 150km away from Indonesia. It makes 220.000-people dead(only from Indonesia!) and the rest victims are from Thailand,India,Srilangka and even Madagascar. This movie is definitely a must see, it handles not only the entire tragedy of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami very well, but the actors did an astounding job. The movie was riveting in the emotion and tragedy brought by the event, even though the movie mostly shows the family and their mission to find each other again.
