When a plague devastated life on Earth, the population died or became a sort of zombie living in the dark. Dr. Robert Morgan is the unique healthy survivor on the planet, having a routine life for his own survival: he kills the night creatures along the day and maintains the safety of his house, to be protected along the night. He misses his beloved wife and daughter, consumed by the outbreak, and he fights against his loneliness to maintain mentally sane. When Dr. Morgan finds the contaminated Ruth Collins, he uses his blood to heal her and he becomes the last hope on Earth to help the other contaminated survivors. But the order of this new society is scary.

I enjoy this version, in some ways Vincent Price is better cast as Robert Neville than Charlton Heston and the reason I say this, is because Price is able to convey a more convincing sense of vulnerability and isolation than Heston could ever display. I LOVED the 1954 novel but hated the Will Smith adaption (great visuals, awful ending) and hated The Omega Man (even though I'm distantly related to Charlton Heston). I finally bought a collection of films today featuring this and Night of the Living Dead (which is admittedly based on the I Am Legend story). Vincent Price has never let me down before, and the trailer makes it seem semi-relatable to the original story. Re-wires the whole house for his generator, uses a lathe, drives a station wagon around town, looks at bacteria slides, Makes garlic wreathes and found a store that only sell mirrors.Couple of disturbing scenes in the movie,i.e.,When he enters the supermarket, plenty of shopping carts as he walks past the twinkies display for the walk in freezers and secondly when his daughter was death warmed over he considered sending her to school..LOL - @Monday, October 22, 2012 2:38 PM

Correct, Night of the living dead aint the first Zombie flick, George A. Romero just popularized them). 'White Zombie' is the first Zombie movie ever & introduced us the to name 'Zombie'. It was inspired by 'The Magic Island', a novel years earlier about Zombies which is the first writing on the subject about the African/Haitian voodoo of Zombies known as Zonbi or Zombi which was practiced.
