Gusuko Budori lives happily with his little sister, father and mother. When the cold hits the Ihatobu Forest they are invaded and, with his family killed, he is left alone. He begins working in a geological laboratory and attempts to move forward, but with another spell of cold coming he knows he has to make sure what happened before is not repeated.

I don't like the movie. There was barely any content in the first 60 minutes. Also the story telling is horrible. There was no common theme for the viewer to follow, so what was up with the ilusion of the fat yellow cat? what about the insects in the end of the illusion? Why didn't the family left together when the situation some 15 km away was way better? Also what's Budori's motivation? Surviving? Finding his sister? He didn't seem in any way determined to find her. What's with the other illusion, when Budori was spoken guilty of intruding the "other realm" repeatedly? All in all this movie feels like someone who smoked too much weed is telling himself he "sees clear". But hey, the charcaters were cute humanoid cats. i liked it but hated how the ending was just so abrupt like that. I'm guessing those dreams were actually a connection to the underworld which dissapointingly is the only place he thinks to look for his family if that really was the underworld then wouldn't he at least get to see his family?
