Looks like several changes were made between this trailer and the final cut. Costner's speech was cut short, the missile alarm was changed, gaga was only there in the credits. Very good film – highly recommended. - @Monday, September 7, 2015 2:26 PM

I agree fully that this guy saved the world and we owe him everything. I also believe we owe the same gratitude to a Russian submarine captain who during the Cuban Missile Crisis, refused to launch a nuclear tipped torpedo against an American ship that was thumping it with grenades trying to make it surface. - @Monday, December 30, 2013 5:52 AM

If you understood objectivism you'd know that by morality I meant the morality attributed to rational thinking to dictate the course of his actions. We live in a world where it is more common to note that most people allow their emotions to dictate their actions far too often. Again, you seem determined to undermine his achievement as anything less than heroic. There is no such thing as a collective conciousness. A collective is an abstract entity, an individual is not abstract. - @Thursday, September 26, 2013 10:43 PM

The reason you don't know whether to laugh/cry is because you felt neither. You dislike Objectivism and felt compelled to make a comment. I would have said the same about anyone that used a rational process to make the same decision. The collective here is the bureaucratic machine he works for and he stood as a rational individual. Not everyone would have done the same. He reminisces with feelings but he was thinking logically on the day. Are trying to make light of his achievement? - @Thursday, September 26, 2013 10:32 PM

And let me add that EVERY individual is part of a collective, and every collective consists of individuals. It's like saying "the individual tree against the forest". - @Thursday, September 26, 2013 3:21 PM

"His own objective morality". Don't know whether to laugh or cry over such mindless parroting of Rand. His morality was not more "objective" than anyone else's, he just happened to know the system and its weaknesses inside out as he had an important part in creating it himself. He also assumed that the Americans would never start a first strike with only five missiles, but in fact Pentagon did operate with this as an option, relying exactly on the Soviets assuming it would be a false alarm. - @Thursday, September 26, 2013 3:19 PM

There was no button. Petrov was not in a position where he could single-handedly launch any of the Soviet missile arsenal. His sole duty was to monitor satellite surveillance equipment and report missile attack warnings up the chain of command. Also, he didn't lose any family. If anything, he was initially praised by his superiors. That doesn't diminish his heroism in any way, but truth is objective. His story is a click away, fellow netizen, it's so easy to check your facts. Also, stop yelling. - @Sunday, September 1, 2013 10:10 PM

IF HE PRESSED THAT BUTTON, HUMANITY WAS FUCKED, WE WOULD HAVE ALL BEEN DEAD, MANY MORE WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN BORN! SO MUCH PRESSURE ON ONE MAN! LOST HIS FAMILY! PAID A VERY HIGH PRICE FOR SAVING OUR ASSES! - @Thursday, August 15, 2013 12:45 PM

Nothing is that simplistic. Actually when both sides learned how close they came to nuclear war. They were shocked. It is the reason why the back channels were created. And Reagan started talking about a nuclear free world and toning down the rhetoric. Both sides brought it to an end. Without Gobrachev it would continue. - @Wednesday, March 6, 2013 2:09 AM

This man is a wonderful example of The Individual against The Collective. This man used his own objective morality, he used his rational thinking becuase he saw that the collective objectives were not reasonable. - @Sunday, November 4, 2012 11:38 AM

This film is produced by the Hollywood communist elites shown in this trailer. There is no way to prove any of this and we all know, the World knows that communist lie and are masters of deceit. For generations the Hollywood elites spread lies that the Rosenberg atomic spies were innocent and Alger Hess was not a Russian spy. When the USSR ended and Boris Yeltsin opened up the KGB archives to the World we saw the the Hollywood communist elites had lied. It was Ronald Reagan who saved the World. - @Saturday, October 6, 2012 7:36 PM
