Genres & Description

Crime Drama

7.6 / 10

1949, Santa Rosa, California. A laconic, chain-smoking barber with fallen arches tells a story of a man trying to escape a humdrum life. It's a tale of suspected adultery, blackmail, foul play, death, Sacramento city slickers, racial slurs, invented war heroics, shaved legs, a gamine piano player, aliens, and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. Ed Crane cuts hair in his in-law's shop; his wife drinks and may be having an affair with her boss, Big Dave, who has $10,000 to invest in a second department store. Ed gets wind of a chance to make money in dry cleaning. Blackmail and investment are his opportunity to be more than a man no one notices. Settle in the chair and listen.

Your question is noted and ignored. First, let me explain to you miss that this happened over a month ago and you're late. Second, if you want to get biblical go somewhere else. Third, it's fucking ridiculous that you actually took the time to correct something that's a month old. A few days then maybe it'd be fine, but A MONTH!? GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE! Fourth you made mistakes in your correction of my comments moron. - @Tuesday, December 4, 2012 7:35 AM

Now, I just want to let you know one thing; there are three types of people who come to watch these videos. The first are the people who actually liked this movie. The second are the various people who are interested in the movie and who also want to know more about it. The third are the thick cunts, like you, who don't understand and are not willing to understand the art behind this movie. - @Tuesday, December 4, 2012 2:40 AM

Furthermore, if you could give me five good reasons as to why this movie sucked then maybe I would actually give a shit about what you have to say but you can't. I would compare your typing to watching a gay retard playing with a cup and ball. It's amusing but I can't help but to feel bad for you as you're too fucking stupid to understand. You're a lost cause. So, either give me a good, constructive criticism as to why this movie sucked or keep your dipshit comments about movie trailers- ect. - @Tuesday, December 4, 2012 2:35 AM

*Okay first of all, spell check before you criticize something; "but if the idea was a movie they does not reach," and "despite all the personal thought." Your first sentence made no sense and "thoughts" is not a word, Fagbag. Secondly, the main character was not meant to be someone you could empathize with. Like you said, "it's just a piece of art". The fact that the movie was shot in black and white was meant to show that even if the movie was shot in color, Ed Crane would've still been gray. - @Tuesday, December 4, 2012 2:21 AM

I'm glad to teach you how to spell you fucktard. And I agree a movie is a good movie no matter style, age, location or theme. But I was surprised that you could even think like that cause your too much of a dipshit to come up with any real reason as to why this movie sucked. I'm just assuming that you can't come up with any reasons it sucked since I can barely understand your shitty typing and spelling. I was able to come up with a reason as to why this movie was a work of art. - @Tuesday, October 30, 2012 9:41 PM

lack of good arguments always lead to this bad spell hunting, thanks teach, people like you just appers out of t thin air, predictable. i dont give a fart about this being black and white, a good movie is a good movie, no matter style, age, location, theme or whatever. and crane is not gray, because gray is much more complex than a guys who does not know nothing about nothing, except about hair cut. if t chair had not kill him t cigar would do that. empty head movie this one, no taste. - @Monday, October 29, 2012 3:08 PM

Okay first of all spellcheck before you criticize something: "but if the idea was a movie they does not reach." and "despite all the personal toughts." your first sentence made no sense and toughts is not a word fagbag. Secondly the main character was not meant to be someone you could empathize with. Because like you said, "it's just a piece of art", the fact that the movie was shot in black and white was meant to show that even if the movie was shot in color that Ed Crane would still be gray. - @Monday, October 29, 2012 6:29 AM

overrated for my taste, its just a piece of art, but if the idea was a movie they does not reach. its not funny, or sad, gore, or whatever, not immersive at all. the main character is barely presented as someone who can be emphasize or antagonized, all about him is superficial, despite all the personal toughts that he share along the story. good movies drag you into it, this one is a shy invitation. my opinion 7/10. - @Thursday, October 25, 2012 3:03 PM

All these ideas would seem like pretensions from a lot of other directors. But the Coens make them all work and make sense if you really think about them. There isn't a wasted moment. Fuck I love this movie - @Saturday, September 8, 2012 8:25 AM

He looks back on his life, but he doesn't see how he saw it when he was living it. He doesn't see that his attitude was always to blame. He goes to his death in complete denial. - @Saturday, September 8, 2012 8:23 AM

And how looking at something changes it. Ed is looking back on his life from death row, and his perception of it changes. He doesn't see himself as an evil person but maybe he was all along. How can he say he has no regrets? He could have confessed to everything at any time, he could have loved his wife while she was still alive, he could have cared about his job, he could have confronted Big Dave like a man instead of sneaking around and blackmailing him. And he blames aliens in the end - @Monday, September 3, 2012 10:46 PM
