The pluses: William Cameron Menzel and tremendously moody and effective Gothic scenic design. The minuses? The denouement reveal of a really REALLY bad giant toad suit. One tales what one can get, I suppose. - @Wednesday, September 9, 2015 3:05 AM

This was a great horror classic that I saw a few times on TV as a kid. The atmospheric effects of the settings and acting was far more effective to create the mood than the computer graphic special effects of today. Few know of this old film, but it was well done in a way that most of today's horror movies can't touch.  - @Tuesday, September 23, 2014 5:47 AM

This is from a time when a movie was an event, instead of some God awful, CGI crapfest, that you are only going to see because you follow your friends like a lemming. The Maze was made when people cared about entertaining the audience instead of how much money they can make off the DVD/Blu-Ray/Ultra Violet combo pack. - @Sunday, December 30, 2012 1:13 AM

@michaeljayklein Vincent Price holds the record for 3D films of the 50's. House Of Wax,Dangerous Mission,The Mad Magician and Son Of Sinbad. Saw everything in 3D at a festival about 5 years ago save for Son Of Sinbad. They think all but about 10 minutes of the 3D elements are lost for good. Shame. Saw ages ago in 2D . It's pretty silly. - @Tuesday, June 21, 2011 7:34 PM

William Cameron Menzies was one of the greatest and most innovative set designers in the world. As a sort of Thank You he was at a few times allowed to direct a few low budget but innovative movies, it seams. This move feels like he made the sets for some movie that never got made, and so got the chance to use his sets and direct some actors that didn't cost too much to use (at the time), and to cash in on the then in fashion 3-D. - @Saturday, February 5, 2011 2:53 PM
