This was a great little film with real heart and a grounded desire to tell a compelling - but not gratuitous - story about burgeoning sexuality and the confines of it. Think Brie Larson's "Short Term 12" for gay conversion. There are moments and beats throughout the film that are more real and more honest than a lot of coming of age movies I've seen in recent history. While at times it frustratingly bubbled without overflowing, the sexual exploration the film takes, and its quieter moments between two girls, were perhaps the most relatable and visceral LGBT moments I've ever seen portrayed in film.
