Centuries ago, the evil Emperor Han was cursed by the sorceress Zi Yuan who transformed him and his army into mummies. In 1946, the explorer Rick O'Connell and his wife Evelyn O'Connell are invited by the British government to take a relic, the diamond "The Eye of Shangri-La" to China. The ancient stone is capable of resurrecting the Emperor Han and of pointing the way to Shangri-La and the eternal pool of life. When the couple reaches China, they meet their son Alex O'Connell, who has discovered the tomb of Han, and Evelyn's brother Jonathan Carnahan. The O'Connells are betrayed by their friend Prof. Roger Wilson, who is associated with General Yang. Yang wants to serve Emperor Han, so he resurrects the mummy and they head for Shangri-La. The guardian of Han's tomb (and Zi's daughter) Lin tells them that the only ways to destroy Han are to prevent him from reaching Shangri-La or by stabbing his heart with a cursed dagger.

For those who want to know who is the emperor's name, he is Qin Shi Huangdi (or Han in the movie) He was the emperor that build the great wall and is using his own kingdom (or maybe enemies too) to built it, without mercy or justice in the process. Feel the problem with the sequels is they just threw far too much stuff in. Oh lets have Anubis like warriors, oh a big scorpion man, a jungle in the desert, Yeti, skeleton warrriors oh wait a dragon too. It's called 'THE MUMMY' not anything you can possibly render in CGI. I prefer Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull over this. The biggest problem with Dragon Emperor is that it tries to prove it's young and hip, and ends up being so juvenile, it would only appeal to adolescents. The action scenes are atrocious, the dialogue is idiotic and charmless, Maria Bello is no Rachel Weisz, Luke Ford is so insufferable, and Brendan Fraser is just underused. The film's meant to be a celebration of the entire Mummy franchise, but it brings out all the worst elements of the series, descending into self-parody. It's basically the birthday boy getting drunk and falling face-first into the cake. It's just shameful! Here's hoping that the 2017 reboot will be a celebration of everything that is good about the entire Mummy series, because Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is the Batman & Robin of the franchise. - @Monday, March 24, 2014 2:56 PM
