Set against the backdrop of 1977 Los Angeles, The Nice Guys opens when single father and licensed PI Holland March (Gosling) is hired to investigate the apparent suicide of famous porn star Misty Mountains. As the trail leads him to track down a girl named Amelia (Qualley), he encounters less licensed and less hands-off private eye Jackson Healey (Russell Crowe) and his brass knuckles, both hired by the young hippie. However, the situation takes a turn for the worse when Amelia vanishes and it becomes apparent that March wasn't the only party interested. As both men are forced to team up, they'll have to take on a world filled with eccentric goons, strippers dressed as mermaids and even a possible government conspiracy.

I hope other people hate this movie's message as much as I do. Corporate greed = bad guy. Good guy = they win lets drink. Its bullshit. Its not cool. The alternative isn't overwhelming either. Vote against organized greed as best you can. Speak your mind about it and don't stop. Then eventually, if it gets bad enough, for whichever whack-job/revolutionary might think its bad enough amongst the billions, kill a CEO or politician or two. Edit: I like the Jesus/bowling ball/Coke can gag in this movie the most I think. Though its still garbage for being open ended enough as to link Jehova's Witnesses with the Jesus of the New Testament. There were a handful of nice lines like "Baryshnikov," and "Fuck with the English sun went down twice." Viva la revolution... eventually. Nothing lasts forever. Edit Edit: Nice guys finish last. So try, be a rival (Emilia meaning). Or don't... I don't know! I just don't like seeing a movie tell everybody to roll over and play dead cleverly. It pisses me off. It's AWESOME watching this trailer and the new trailer for Don Cheadle's Miles Davis biopic "Miles Ahead" both look incredibly well made, well-acted, and has that 70's vibe going on. BOTH look fresh and original, and both look like they have A LOT of laughs. It's pretty awesome seeing both Ryan Gosling AND Russell Crowe looking like they OWN at Comedy just from this trailer alone.
