I saw an article suggesting this movie after a break-up. Boy, that article was so wrong. Don't ever watch this movie when you are sad. The same goes for "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool". Both are technically well-made but both are so depressing. - @Tuesday, August 28, 2018 1:38 PM

See, this is a good trailer. At no time do they have to slow down, and stop the music for a cheesy punchline. The momentum generates jokes and vice versa. - @Saturday, April 4, 2015 9:54 PM

This movie (and Broadway Danny Rose, Sweet and Lowdown, Deconstructing Harry, Zelig, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Match Point) shows why Woody is one of the greatest directors and storytellers of all time. Every now and then he makes a script that is wholly original and completely different from anything he has ever made before and he just plain old kills it. This movie is perfect in every line and every shot. Today, I saw a play called Six Characters In Search of An Author. I had the sneaking suspicion that it was interesting, but faulty and now I know why: the premise was done better by Woody in 1985.  - @Sunday, November 2, 2014 8:18 AM

looks like the inspiration for The Mask with Jim Carey. scenes and music remind me of it and am sure were used as a homage to this movie - @Tuesday, October 8, 2013 12:26 AM

This same premise was used humrously in a bit in the Hong Kong comedy "Golden Chicken." The same scene is also a take-off of the famous Meg Ryan 'moment' in "When Harry Met Sally." STAY AWESOME! :) - @Friday, March 2, 2012 10:39 PM

This movie kills me. I have watched so many movies that sadden me, but this one guts to me the very core. The last scene where the poor sweet girl is left alone with her fantasies...I think we can all relate to both that pain and the salvation of fantasy. Great great movie. - @Thursday, December 22, 2011 9:18 AM

"I've just met a new man. He's fictional but you can't have everything!" that has to go in with "Nobody's perfect" as one of the greatest lines ever written - @Sunday, December 11, 2011 9:23 PM

I love the idea when on-screen hero becomes real like in The Purple Rose of Cairo or Last Action Hero. Mia Farrow showed brilliant acting. Jeff Daniels and Danny Aiello were great as well. For me, the ending could have been better. Anyway I love this movie. - @Tuesday, January 5, 2010 3:52 PM
