In 1974, Oxford professor Joseph Coupland invites introspective lad Brian McNeil to film his experimental treatment of subject Jane Harper, aided by student assistants Krissi Dalton and Harry Abrams. Jane, a young woman with no memory of the past and repeatedly abandoned by foster families, believes herself possessed by a doll named Evey that gives her telekinetic power. Keeping her awake in an isolated house, Prof. Coupland intends that she puts her evil energy into an actual doll, thereafter destroying it to heal Jane. Amidst strange things happening in the house, Brian feels sorry for Jane and, researching her tattoo, learns an evil secret about Jane's past, and of Prof. Coupland's motivation.

unfortunately for Hammer this was not a good movie 1 whoever wrote it had no understanding ofmental health issues and 2 it was very formulaic and samey. Hammer where always good at the Gothics it was only really when they tried to Modernise it all, it didn't work ( back in the 70's) but now there has been a resurgence in interest in the more Gothic Horror set in the imagination rather than all the "based on a True story" that has been flying around of late ghosts are being done to death. Universal screwed up their "Dark Universe"totally note to them good horror movies are not about throwing everything and the kitchen sink at something. Hammer have alway had a Dark universe if you watch those old movies they were all linked somewhat tenuously but still theywere linked if only We could have had Oliver Reeds Werewolf meets Christopher Lee's Dracula or Peter Cushing's Frankenstein meeting Dracula. Hammer used to be the most imaginative make of Gothic horror they could be again if they got someone with an imagination to work with them - @Monday, October 15, 2018 4:26 PM

Glad that the old Hammer studio is still making films this one quite good ,the modern British style of horror movies are subtle and suspenseful more in line with cerebral Hitchcock mastery quite delightful and unexpected with the same vivid technicolor patina and mod version of the "Hammer girl" look of the 60s that made old reruns of the classics my favorite Saturday pastime. 5 stars well done - @Friday, April 24, 2015 9:23 PM

I can't wait to see this I go to my dads on weekends and this is out April 25 and all movies come to theaters on Friday and since I was good this weekend and helped him with his iPad and cleaning he said he would take me he's into action and stuff but I saw the evil dead remake with him and this movie didn't interest him at all but I like horror stuff but I'm not weird in any way and I saw I, Frankenstein with him which has decent 3d and good special effects I hate reviews I suggest people see I Frankenstein but since he is moving on May 1st this will be our last movie in buffalo and I'll visit him in the summer in Florida but I can't wait to see this read the plot every one it looks cool! - @Monday, February 3, 2014 6:10 AM
