A glowing brain-like creature arrives on a beach near a rocket test site via a teleportation beam. The alien communicates telepathically with the children of scientists. The kids start doing the alien's bidding as the adults try to find out what's happening to their unruly offspring.

Just about the only other blatantly pacifist sci-fi 50s film, and a high-quality classic, was Robert Wise's "The Day The Earth Stood Still". In a postwar world where xenophobia was good box office, and the US Government suppressed the original cut of the 1954 film "Godzilla" with its anti-nuclear message, the few hardy souls who didn't mind having to answer to the House Un-American Activities Committee balanced out against the parade of Bug-Eyed Monsters from outer space. - @Saturday, November 17, 2018 3:43 AM

I remember seeing this in that film "It Came From Hollywood" a tribute to the B-movies. I also remember watching this show with Steven Spielberg saying this was one of his favorite films growing up; hearing something like this kind of makes you think. The Space Children has been released on DVD and Blu Ray disc! It's available several places, such as Amazon.com. It's remastered and in wide screen so this is as good as it gets for such an old film. And yes...that was indeed the little girl from "Them!". Not to mention, Mark McCain (Johnny Crawford) from The Rifleman, Johnny Washbrook from My Friend Flicka, Michel Ray from Lawrence of Arabia and of course Jackie Coogan (The Kid, Uncle Fester) and Russell Johnson (The Professor on Gilligan's Island). - @Wednesday, May 20, 2015 12:30 AM
