The impressionistic story of a Texas family in the 1950s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.

I feel Lubezki’s cinematography shadowed what could’ve been something “different”. I feel indifferent after watching this film. All great performances and everything in between. But there’s something a bit too self-aware and over-the-top photographically that I think just doesn’t jive with The Tree of Life. But it’s Terrance!! Super boring movie, nearby unwatchable. What is the point of Sean penn’s scene lol and then the 10 minute scene from 20:00 a 30:00 is just random. It took me about 5 hours to watch this because I had to keep pausing and take a nap because it was so boring.
