When podcaster Wallace travels to Canada to interview someone, he winds up meeting a strange man named Howe who has many stories to tell about his past life during his interview. So Kevin Smith is both a fantastic writer and director. When I heard what this film was actually about, and it was his, I was like, “really?” So I just watched it, and it’s probably the most goofy but well acted horror film I’ve ever seen. Michael Parks is an amazing actor portaying a really strange and ridiculous character, Justin long does well as an asshole in all respects, and by the way, kudos to him for putting up with being in that grotesque walrus outfit, couldn’t have been comfortable at all. One of few films I’ve seen Haley Joel Osment in since the sixth sense, hope to see more of him. And good lord, if someone hadn’t told me that Johnny depp was the goofy hunter guy, I still would have seen it. They tried to hide him with those prosthetics, but you could tell. This movie is bizarre with the pretense alone, but it just gets weirder and weirder along the ride.
