I get why film buffs adore this film. It's miserable, dark and drenched in symbolism. However, the fact that it's rated as a comedy is a really bad miss-sell. I watched this earlier this evening. I'd never heard of the director before, but I'd read the plot on wikipedia beforehand. I mean... i did laugh at times, but mostly because i felt too uncomfortable to react differently. Jesus. My advice to anyone falling for the trailer is DO NOT SEE THIS FILM! It is unquestionable the worst film I have seen in 40 years. You constantly wait for something to happen, desperate to be entertained -instead of being bored rigid. It lacks cohesion, direction, plot and more than anything else HUMOUR! It was advertised as a comedy. Which is a joke in itself. The acting is wooden and lacks conviction. It is apparent that the actors were obviously desperate for work and chose this as an alternative to starving. The ending is an abomination (the dog gets hit by a juggernaut) and is left like many of the wild creatures we see adorning our highways. There is no logic or reason for the dog's transference from A, B to C - and none is given. The writer needs to be flogged within an inch of his life!! Seriously please no one go see this. Especially if you are a wiener dog owner and lover. It's truly terrible & so depressing. Watching this commercial after knowing what the actually movie is like just makes me sad because the trailer is so much better than the actual movie. Seriously. Do NOT watch if you actually like wiener dogs... I won't spoiler but the ending is so awful you can't even imagine. Like whatever bad ending you could imagine... The real ending is so much worse than that.. So if you like quirky weird movies and have no real care about dogs then maybe go see it.
