In antiquity, the Amazons defeat the war god, Ares, and Zeus charges them to hold him prisoner as eternally young warriors on the hidden island of Themyscira. Centuries later, US Air Force pilot Steve Trevor is lured to crash land on the island and the distraction of that trespass allows Ares to escape. In response, Princess Diana wins the responsibility to both take Trevor home and recapture the fugitive god. Steve Trevor offers to help and together this disparate pair must not only overcome Ares' efforts to achieve a bloody revenge, but also reconcile their own conflicting world views in an adventure that would be the first for the greatest of the female superheroes.

I gotta feeling that the 2017 film is going to have several similarities to this film, including Diana leaving Themyscira and getting to know the outside world, her first meeting with Steve, as well as Ares being the main villain. you know what I never understood about the whole "Amazonian isolation" thing? Supposedly in most media, the amazons isolated themselves to "be away from the corruption of wars and chaos man spread" or something like that, right?..............Doesn't that seem a little hypocritical considering they're an entire race of amazonian warriors who do nothing but train for war : /??? I don't know what Warner Brothers problem is. A successful movie with a female lead can be done. I get that, but you can make it dark without making it another origin story, and if you want it as an origin story you can do more then just your basic planet blows up, he escapes and is sent to Earth deal. Superman doesn't need to be realistic, it's suppose to be set in a world of fantasy, and they should have used Brainiac as the first villain instead of Zod, it'd make more sense considering Brainiac was created by Jor-El, he could be the main villain first, then have Zod come in. - @Friday, September 28, 2012 11:17 PM

I would not get pessimistic before we have seen the finished product. Bare in mind that Nolan's involvement in this Superman film was minimal; he may have had some input into the script, for the most part they just attached his name to it to raise some interest. All I have seen is a trailer, but it looks like they are trying to add more drama to Superman, rather than take it in the "darker" direction of Nolan's Batman films. Yeah, but with the marginal way they made this Green Lantern movie, and the way Nolan is going to bastardize this Superman there really is no hope for another decent Dc Movie. Which is really sad, considering Goyer was a major part in the Blade franchise. I feel bad for the death of Superman, at least I have animated films to look forward to, because there's only one universe that does movies the right way and that's Marvel for me. Not sure, I was not a huge WW reader as a kid. With that said, I also think a movie should play on the fact that she is a semi-sexist character; she is no femme-nazi, but as an amazon she does have an innate mistrust of men and views them as naturally inferior. A great way to build her character would be to show her natural bias crumbling as she learns to trust and care about significant men in her life. - @Friday, September 28, 2012 5:00 AM

I think the only reason she isin't made yet is because of how much she'd get a reaction out of the fans. Her origins needs to be done properly, isin't she the daughter of Hades and her mother? I forget her name, it was explained in one of the Justice League episodes, but I think the same reasons why we haven't seen a wonder woman movie, are the reasons why we haven't seen a Kratos movie, which last I heard the script was being re-written cause of the titan movies that came out recently. - @Friday, September 28, 2012 4:51 AM

Thanks. I might add that if a franchise does happen they will HAVE to bring Cheetah into it at some point-she is WW's most obvious foe. But a first movie would have to be all about establishing who Wonder Woman is and her motivations, so Ares fits better. I totally agree, I liked the fact that they made you question whether it was technology or magic or divinity that gave them power, I always like movies that do it that way, not that movies like Wrath/Clash of the Titans weren't bad. I think the Thor movie should serve as a model for Wonder Woman. Portray the Olympian gods as a semi-alien society, not as divine, angelic beings.
