A fur-trapper named Kelly, who once saved the life of a Sioux chief, is allowed to set his traps in Sioux territory during the late 1870s. Reluctantly he takes on a tenderfoot assistant named Anse and together they give shelter to a runaway Arapaho woman. Tensions develop when Anse falls in love with this woman and when the Sioux chief arrives with his warriors to re-claim her.

John Wayne was supposed to do this movie but had a scheduling conflict due to filming "The Horse Soldiers" so Clint was cast in "Yellowstone Kelly".Believe it was meant to be be.Glad,enjoyed both movies.Read the book,somewhat different outcome in the ending.There actually was a Luther "Yellowstone" Kelly who explored the Yellowstone on whom this story is loosely based. - @Friday, February 13, 2015 4:52 AM
