Resonating with vibrant memories and silent echoes of a shared life, the old house is somehow connected to "C", a sensitive composer who is hesitant of leaving it, while his loving wife "M", on the other hand, is keen on moving out, having an indecipherable but grim premonition of danger. Sadly, disaster soon strikes, and C's untethered spectre which detaches from the lifeless body, rises from the mortician's table, and in a swift decision, decides to linger in this dimension to faithfully follow the grieving M back to the old house. As silent as a shadow and as invisible as the air, C's unappeasable phantom observes M's denial and depression gradually turn to acceptance and even hope, as time unravels, moving forward through the decades. In this earth, man struggles to leave his legacy behind. Is this the way to immortality?

Stupidest waste of time, $$, resources ever put on film. There is nothing redeemable about this movie, the story, etc. Even the most intelligent critic that knows film? IF they defend this? It's SHIT! From casting to story to sheer.... THE ENTIRE MOVIE IS A WASTE OF SPACE AND AN INSULT TO MOVIE MAKING! You'd have a more entertaining movie giving 1st graders a couple of sheets and asking them to play ghost for 90 minutes. There would actually be at least some substance and entertainment there with at least SOME imagination. This movie doesn't have the imagination of a comatose 90 year old. I did not like this film. Visually its was stunning. But it seemed a little too pretentious. I mean yeah silence is good in films, I mean I love electroma and not a single word is spoken. But Jesus I feel they really missed the mark with this one, it was so... lacklustre, I mean I left the film bored, pissed and scammed out my money. It felt more like a demo reel or a promo it went no where and yet they still managed to drag it out. I mean what was it like 15 minutes on one scene of someone eating a pie... why... why was that needed. I liked the idea but this had so much potential and fell flat. This is an incredibly slow film. It uses that filming of a scene that lasts for a really long time to allow the viewer to feel the emptiness and loneliness of death and does it extremely well. It is told from the perspective of the ghost but is not really about the ghost. The ending is impressive. It answers questions you didn't even know you had. Most people will question the abruptness of the end. If you can't remember what could be on the item that seems so important, just watch the first few minutes of the film again. You should understand then. The exactness of the item is unimportant. If you can't handle very slow scenes, you won't be able to watch this. It is by no means a horror show. Very well done. This is a reminder of what cinema should be. Films now are way too gimmicky, we don't really feel anything. This film is evocative, heartbreaking yet beautiful and strongly poignant. The cinematography is incredible and it captures everything great about films and why film is the best medium. Forget ridiculous dialogue and 250+ million dollar budgets, films should stay with you long after the credits roll and there is no doubt 'A Ghost Story' does that. I rate this as one of the strangest experiences of my life. It was like, one minute I was doing average things, minding my own business...And the next moment I realized that I just fell through a hole, into the Twilight Zone! I had been living with a very nice lady named J in Southern California for about 3 years, this was about 2006. And her nephew T. came to stay with us while completing his last year in high school. And he brought along his pet Chihuahua named Martini. Martini was one of the cutest Chihuahua's I have ever seen! And he was totally, loyal and completely in love with T. And very protective of T, no one could even walk by T's room without Martini barking at them. At this time I was teaching evening classes in Herbalism locally, and I would get home at about 10 PM. And of course as I walked by T's room, Martini would bark at me...I would say ssh Martini don't wake up T, please Martini be quiet!...And Martini would put his nose to the bottom of the door, and I could see his muzzle as he would snuff the air to check my scent...A few parting growls, and that would be the end of our nightly routine... This night night was no different, Martini barked! I begged him to please not wake T. And as I walked by the door I saw him snuffing to get my scent password, a bit of growling, ho hum... And I headed upstairs to snack, and talk to J before bed. When I got upstairs I told J, "gee I wish Martini would knock off that barking every night!" And J said, "Paul didn't you know about Martini?" I said, "know what about Martini?" And J said, "Martini was run over by a car this morning and killed instantly!"
