I'm not native, I'm East Asian and I loved Canadian History back in school. My teacher showed us this movie about residential schools and I remember how much it broke me. Since then I've always felt strongly about the shame canada held towards the aboriginal. This movie brought that all back. I heard about this movie. It was in theatres. So I looked for it in stores. Like Walmart and Best Buy. But it was never in there. So I google movied it. And there is was. So I watched it. And I cried. I cried so much after watching it. I felt so much pain and suffering and the humiliation!. Man! I understand now why it’s not in stores. Why no o e talks about it. Shit I wouldn’t wanna talk about it either if my grandfathers did this. The “racism” that is still perpetrated today, I feel on almost a weekly basis. There are a lot of good people out there and I am so so grateful for them. The represent my view on how to be human. But I gotta say. The people that still treat natives badly are still out there. I see it like this. The black race’s racism was done openly and to the extreme. And the black race made sure everyone knew of this. But the racism that happens to us natives. Well, it’s veiled. You see the outline. It’s kinda there. But you really can’t pinpoint it out and say “there it is”!! That’s what makes it so f’d up in my humble opinion. I’m native in Canada. I grew up with parents that went to the res schools. And also in a very very catholic environment. But I’m gonna golf my head up. And be me.
