This version of Appointment With Death is much better than the 2008 version. - @Monday, November 6, 2017 3:49 PM

Isnt't there this anecdote about one of Christie's heirs to have said to Ustinov 'But Hercule Poirot is not at all like this!' to which Ustinov simply replied 'Now he is'. I love Peter Ustinov very much. And even though I'm usually very keen on counting myself among the kind of people remarking 'but this was not within the book!!', I still find myself preferring his version of the great Belgium detective to Suchet's. Suchet has the right looks, is (mostly) seen in the correct setting and has the right mannerisms - but, in my opinion, he still lacks the original Poirot's intensity, that is, his atmosphere. Setting up crimes in pretentious places is not what grants a figure undying fame - it is the character being a genuinely original and ingenious excentric. - @Friday, March 7, 2014 3:35 PM
