Why do I get the feeling that Christina Ricci does NOT belong in this movie? I have this urge to yell "get off the screen, you're in the way!" After watching Freedom Writers, Dangerous Minds, Up the Down Staircase, and similar drivel, I wonder why the producers always need to put a "nice white lady" in there to cure non-white youths of their savage behavior? Anyone who's read books like The Battle For Room 314, or Blackboard Jungle, or Frank McCourt's memoir Teacher Man, knows that the educated, intellectual white dude (or babe) has ZERO success in the classroom. Never heard of this before, but I found this trailer after doing some searching on Ruby Rose. This feels like every "Magic White Person" movie that's already been made, where the white person is somehow going to fix the disenfranchised minority kids. I think the first one was "Dangerous Minds" with Michelle Pfeiffer in '95. Then Matthew Perry had "The Ron Clark Story" in 2006 which was based at least somewhat on a true story. Somehow though they've managed to shoehorn a seemingly incongruous hot lesbian sex scene into this one, ala "Black Swan". I'm not convinced, but might have to look for that sex scene. I'm guessing it might not be very convincing either or I probably would've heard of this sooner. - @Thursday, January 12, 2017 1:40 PM
