I saw this yesterday by chance and... (DEER) GOD. It was absolutely amazing. I'm surprised that it got so little coverage and that I missed it when it released. I always loved slow burners. And this has become one of my favourites, if not my very favourite. I'm dead serious. A recent movie that surprised me in that category was The Witch, due to its great atmosphere and pace. But Black Mountain Side is actually better. It has solid acting, believable characters, brilliant practical gore, a stellar use of lighting and colour and the absence of a soundtrack made it not only stand out from the cheap jumpscare crowd but it also cranked up the tension. I especially loved the use of the alarm in the MacNaughton scene. But the thing that stuck out the most is the line about the stars. That took the movie from "great" to pretty much "legendary" status for me. I enjoyed this so much that I'm planning to watch it again tonight and start a series of Horror movie reviews just to talk about this underground masterpiece. - @Saturday, April 28, 2018 2:35 AM

The H.P. lovecraft lunatic Asylum

I just saw this on Amazon Prime. I really liked it, though I think the special effects (not special effects) were hard to get past. I love the premise of the film. It's definitely Lovecraftian, which I LOVE. I think it would have been interesting to see what would have happened to McNaughton had he not been killed...twice. Other than that, I thought it was a good movie. I think people are used to jump-scare kind of horror, this film is more cerebral which I also love. - @Wednesday, January 3, 2018 12:15 AM

There are six or seven hot men in complete isolation and devoured by tension: why on earth don't they fuck with each other to steam off a bit? I hate to say it, but your trailer could be way better. It looks like an upload of the whole movie but just concentrated down. Reminiscent of The Thing and largely inspired by Lovecraft, Black Mountain Side is a tale of isolation, madness, and murder set in the northern Canadian wilderness.
