Good film, be sure to watch this one..but curiously, no firearms at all throughout. Set in the year 1518- 1520, Spanish soldiers did have primitive rifles and pistols- had them for almost 90 years already-- but not in this film. There are some cannons though Be sure to note the Indian actor Jay Silverheels- he later become 'Tonto' in The Lone Ranger tv show - @Sunday, April 15, 2018 2:06 PM

Je l'ai écouté en français, en anglais..mais c'est bel et bien en espagnol qu'il sonne le mieux!! I made an editing with sequences of the movie on one of my composition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMtWdkScpjI For those who are interested by the stories of the 'conquest of America'.. - @Wednesday, February 7, 2018 2:29 AM

Captain From Castile was a good film c. 1947!   What is the purpose to degrade it by putting the brief 2:50 trailer in black and white?  Color was available  in Gone With The Wind c. 1939? ............. - @Wednesday, December 16, 2015 2:00 PM

I purchased this movie through Amazon..the music "Conquest" played in this trailer and at the end of the movie, is played by my university as our battle cry, and to signal the appearance of our beautiful mascot, Traveler after every touchdown. Alfred Newman signed over the music rights in 1950 to USC as a perpetual gift. After his death, he bequeathed funds to build the Alfred Newman Recital Hall at USC. - @Sunday, June 16, 2013 4:17 PM

Your welcome. I have a particular interest in Jean Peters, for my father had the "House of Portraits" where he first photographed her and became her agent, negotiating her contract with 20th Century Fox. See her "Early Life" at "Jean Peters Wiki" - @Tuesday, June 11, 2013 3:43 AM

This is a fictional story inside an historical background, I mean the story about the Captain from Castile. - @Sunday, June 17, 2012 9:35 AM

You forgot that Andalucia is a "modern" creation, since it was created in 1833 by Javier de Burgos as a new territorial division for Spain after abolishing the old kingdoms... The andalusian regions were part of the Crown of Castile, so the title is not mistaken... Saludos de un compatriota! ;-) - @Sunday, June 17, 2012 9:30 AM

Since my last comment here this movie has been uploaded and promptly deleted on YT despite its age. Fortunately, I've managed to see it elsewhere. It's still great entertainment but historically flawed: inter alia no armed conflict with the natives: little or no sign of the 1,000s of native allies that joined Cortés; no reference to the abominable customs of human sacrifice and cannibalism of the Aztecs and other tribes; no mass conversion by the priests. & btw Jaén is in Andalucía not Castile. - @Monday, March 19, 2012 8:14 AM

The film is in Mexico, you can see Paricutin volcano have 4 years old. - @Monday, August 22, 2011 12:54 AM

Now it's 64 years old... but perhaps 65 is the magic number, I'm not sure of the law. Apparently it has been on DVD since 2007 but I haven't found it yet. It is well worth buying, being a feast for the ear as well as the eye (actually in glorious, presumably enhanced, technicolor as the puzzingly b/w trailer with the incongruous Italian title informs us). If someone has found the full movie on YT (with encoded title) or elsewhere, en clair, please let me know by private message. - @Sunday, June 19, 2011 9:41 AM

If anybody could put up the full original (technicolor) movie in whatever language, it would be greatly appreciated. As it is now 63 years old, maybe it would be left in peace. The dashing and highly simpatico Tyrone Powers, who is thought by some to be a poor actor, probably because he was too beautiful for a man, and the sensual Jean Peters (who later had a similar rôle in Viva Zapata) made an indelible impression on me in my youth but, unfortunately, I have never got to see it since - @Friday, August 6, 2010 9:30 AM
