I just love this film, especially the part about how the intimate psychological details that are likely gleaned from single mothers in the welfare state (its the cooking show, haha) by turning on their laptop or pc cameras and observing them while they think they are unobserved, but paradoxical understand they are under total observation and that they can do nothing about it, hence a cooking show. An excellent model for business, until some kind of morphic personality defense is manufactured and someone jams back into this evil black hole of spying its own metaphorical Hawking Radiation thus exploding it. Just saw it now. Compulsion had alot going for it but fell flat on its face as it failed to draw any real blood with the issues it addressed. 2 women with 2 contrasting eating disorders mutually obsessed with one and other. Saffrons eating disorder and the causes of it (pushy mum and peadophile hollywood bigwig) were more fascinating than Amys obsession with cooking and eating rather than sex which puts men off. It's kind of sad that so many people can't appreciate the sensuality of this movie, and also the messages it carries. You have to read into it because it's one of those movies that organize everything really well so that everything represents something, because everything is part of a whole that is sending out a message. To me the movie wasn't the Hollywood crap that keeps one entertained with drama and false love, it was about a reality that's often decorated, the reality of emptiness aside other things, that's what makes it great, besides of course the coordination of each element in it. - @Friday, February 14, 2014 12:15 AM
