Coogan, an Arizona deputy sheriff, is sent to New York to collect a prisoner who escaped from custody in Arizona. Everyone in New York assumes Coogan is from Texas, much to his annoyance. To add to Coogan's problems the prisoner is in Bellevue after taking a trip on LSD trip while In custody so he decides to cut a few corners. In the process the prisoner escapes, steals Coogan's gun and Coogan is ordered home. Too proud to return home empty handed, Coogan sets out into the big city to track down and recapture his prisoner.

I think this was a movie about the fear of an individual, being swallowed up by a bureaucracy - the system, alienates - is cold, machine-like, with no soul, whereas individuals are full of passionate intensity - hate being confined by rules, timetables, or imprisoned by technology... but what to do if there is a killer on the loose? Call the police, or handle it yourself?.. decentralized limited government versus "communism", the Nanny State.. "You came all the way over here at four in the morning to tell me that?".. this movie is about America, and the movement towards "big government", I think... hence, he dresses like Hank Williams, sr... a nod to the past.. whilst New York symbolizes modernity, change.. what values transcend space and time?.. the hippie dressing like a native, or Tarzan, symbolized .. another religion..alternative values.. it's a very stylistic movie.. cannot recall what his bluff was... are bluffs visual, or audio? - @Friday, February 12, 2016 5:36 AM
