When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

I wonder what parents looked at this trailer, had a kid that's easily scared, but went, "Yeah. My kid can handle this. It's animation! It won't be too scary for them." Apparently quite a few because a lot of people keep saying, "This isn't a kid's movie!" "It's too scary!" Guys, come on. There are plenty of kids movies out there that are just as scary as this one. Quite a few of them are older than this one. Some kids can handle scary stuff. Some can't. And that's up to the parent to decide. We are in an age where we can check on those sorts of things. And you're a parent that took your child to see this WITHOUT knowing it was going to be scary, that's on you.
