Divorced working woman Alex and well-to-do Jewish family doctor Daniel Hirsh share not only the same answering service but also the favours of young Bob Elkin who bed-hops between them as the mood takes him. Both Alex and Dr Hirsh are aware of the other's existence but prefer to live with the situation rather than risk losing Elkin completely. But a wet winter weekend in London can be difficult.

What a film. Those bloody children; Peter Finch; Glenda Jackson, all perfectly epitomized an era in England, especially London, post war, pre Thatcher. - @Thursday, January 23, 2014 1:17 PM

That beautiful, rich color film stock they used at the time, so warm and true to flesh tones. And directors who knew how to use cameras and light and sound.... - @Friday, October 12, 2012 6:11 AM

Mmm, yes, Peter Finch: the postmodern Richard Burton. Best of both worlds for the dramatic British cinephile. - @Friday, October 12, 2012 5:31 AM
