In a castle high on top of a hill lives an inventor's greatest creation - Edward, a near-complete person. The creator died before he could finish Edward's hands; instead, he is left with metal scissors for hands. Since then, he has lived alone, until a kind lady called Peg discovers him and welcomes him into her home. At first, everyone welcomes him into the community, but soon things begin to take a change for the worse.

Winona Ryder turned down playing Mary Corleone in Godfather III to make this instead. I admire her so much for that, she turned down a sure thing (what could be more of a guaranteed success than a GF sequel) to make this oddball dramedy. I didn’t know this...came across it by accident. But Michael Jackson wanted to do Edward scissorhands. Come to think of it I think he would have been perfect for the part. He had the natural physique, the soft voice, the innocent childlike manner, the natural face and black hair to go with the character. The black costume worn by depp kind of looks like one of Michael’s outfits from the bad era.
