In a small New Mexico town, a 17-year-old high school girl who just got her driver's license gets into her first fender bender, innocently exchanging her personal information with an apologetic stranger. Later that stormy night, she is joined in her desolate suburban home by a couple of her school friends who try their best to make a night out of it, only to be visited by the stranger she so willingly handed all of her information to -- a terrifying and bizarre serial killer who stalks the country's endless miles of roads and streets with his old rusty car, hungrily searching for his next unsuspecting victim.

You know... While it'll never be known as a classic I rather liked this one. For one thing I was genuinelt surprised how nihilistic and bitter it turned out to be. Easily the most boring movie I have ever seen (and I'm including the barbie movies that my daughters liked to watch at age 5). To say something positive : this pile of crap was done so badly that I kept watching for the sheer amusement. The failed attempts at jump scares, ruined by completely sloppy timing. The "look, this is how Kubrick did it, did he not?" shots that tease something being around the next corner (gasp!) yet fail simply due to the insanely bad photography that has about as much aesthetic appeal as a 3 year old Samsung mobile phone cam. The poor attempt at a retro 80s soundtrack that can't even get the simplest 80s synth clichees right. The increeeeedibly slow pacing. Is he around this corner? No. Around that corner? No. How about this one? God the tension :-D And then, probably when they realized what a stinker they had at their hands, the movie ends with, er, a "surprise ending"? They all die, the killer lives. Shocking. Oh, did I mention that the killer looks like a toaster? That was funny. I get the attempt of reliving the good old early 80s slasher days. But when your pacing is so lame that the 35 year old originals feel as fast as a modern big budget Rollercoaster in comparison, you're doing it wrong, the end. Had I rented this as a kid back then, I would have stopped watching because it was so boring and slow even by early 80s standards. Not to forget the insane stupidity and dullness of the plot. There's only so much crap you can rationalize with that lame "these are classic slasher movie tropes" excuse of yours. Yeah. Worst movie ever. Sorry, barbie. - @Friday, December 8, 2017 4:12 AM

I personally enjoyed the film. Modern day slasher serial killer. Yes the ending threw me off as well, but director wanted to twist the ending. It happens sometimes. What I want is sequels. The killer in another city ( the city where he ran out of gas at the end of the film ) terrorizing another unsuspecting cutie.
