In the early 1980s, an FBI Agent is assigned to investigate the murder of a respected professor. Through his investigation, he unearths a spider web of international secrets that has been thriving within college campuses across America for decades. His investigation takes him across the Pacific to the island nation of Taiwan, where with the help of the outspoken widow and an unlikely spy, he learns that the Professor's killing was not a random act, but a desperate move by a scandalous government intent on keeping its nefarious activities under wraps. Our detective soon finds himself on a collision course against the U.S. State Department, the Chinese Mafia, and the Nationalist Chinese Government - in a land where the truth is not what it seems and the only people he can trust, cannot be trusted at all. Inspired by actual events.

I see what you're saying because I understand how the political history led Taiwan to seek a more economical & elected form of government. Yes, many Taiwanese are descendants from the mainland, and share many traditions that they still continue today. People overall just need to be more respectful & open to others whether they're from the mainland or the island. @tatjanajak The point I was making just because groups of people have similarities in language, religion, music and genetics doesn't automatically justify political union. Just look at Romania and Moldavia as well as Scotland and Ireland. Anyway I can understand why many people in Taiwan get irritated by Chinese in P.R.C. @h0652570 Hang on a moment Austria and Germany are completely seperate countries even though people in both countries speak German, look the same, behave in a similiar way, eat similiar food and both Austrians and Germansare from the same base ethnic stock. its so complicated, nearly all taiwanese are descendants of mainlanders(no matter what time they arrived at taiwan), except of the 原住民. As far as I know the Taiwanese language is very similar to the 閩南話 spoken in parts of the mainland. I can understand the wish of independence, I would not like to live under CCP government too...but I can't understand why some Taiwanese insult mainland-people generally. @lcmtwn This is not a joke. Formosa Foundation is promoting the movie which demonstrated they invested a lot of money in this film. Formosa Foundation is Chen Shui-Bian's pet organization. Chen scamed money from poor Taiwanese farmers and accepted bribe from rich business men. It's very possible that James van der beek is spending Chen's dirty money now. But I'd rather believe you are Chinese either from China or born in Taiwan and strongly believe "Taiwan is part of China". Not a person loves Taiwan or at least accepts Taiwan is his place to live.
