A reboot of the 1979 movie that was directed by Martin Brest and featured George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg. Three seniors, who are living social security check to check and even reduced to eating dog food at times, decide they have had enough. So, they plan to rob a bank...problem is, they don't even know how to handle a gun! A social commentary on growing old in America and what we are sometimes driven to, due to circumstances.

Saw this movie over the weekend. Morgan Freemand, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin are a laugh a minute. Much like other movies with older actors lampooning being old this is just funny. Especially if you like them and caper movies. Think "Grumpy Old Men" meets "Ocean's Eleven" style caper hijinks. Some of the best scenes are in the how they are going to get away with the heist and their pre-heist run through in the convenience store. Christopher Lloyd combines his "Reverend Jim" character from Taxi plus Doc into an old senile dude who is hilarious in his few scenes. The heist planning and outcome is kinda obvious (sorta), but the story of friendship between three friends and particular between Arkin and Freeman (who have been roomies for 30 yrs) at the end adds lots of charm. Add Ann-Margret as love interest for Arkin into the mix also. She was in Grumpy Old Men too and oddly enough plays a very similar character here. - @Tuesday, November 20, 2018 3:01 PM
