Long ago up North on the Island of Berk, the young Viking, Hiccup, wants to join his town's fight against the dragons that continually raid their town. However, his macho father and village leader, Stoik the Vast, will not allow his small, clumsy, but inventive son to do so. Regardless, Hiccup ventures out into battle and downs a mysterious Night Fury dragon with his invention, but can't bring himself to kill it. Instead, Hiccup and the dragon, whom he dubs Toothless, begin a friendship that would open up both their worlds as the observant boy learns that his people have misjudged the species. But even as the two each take flight in their own way, they find that they must fight the destructive ignorance plaguing their world.

@Agumon90210 He looks like Stitch because the guy who made Lilo and Stitch took part in making HtTYD. - @Sunday, January 30, 2011 8:38 PM

@twilightmarauder *Bolt, sorry {c}- He revealed in an interview that he INTENTIONALLY designed Toothless to be similar to Stitch, both design and personality-wise. It has a lot of parallels to the L&S movie, as well. Dreamworks isn't trying to "rip off" disney. It's more accurate to say that Chris Sanders is "ripping off" himself. And Dreamworks is at least twice better than Disney, especially now. As for Hiccup, I don't even. Go check out Chris Sanders's work, he has a very distinct style. - @Wednesday, December 8, 2010 3:34 AM

twilightmarauder
@Serdikhan ...What? You are aware that Chris Sanders, the guy who came from Disney's Lilo and Stitch, actually directed that movie, right? Chris is the one who actually designed Stitch. The COMPANY doesn't design the freaking characters, the artists do. Chris left disney after they changed his ideas from the Bold movie/changed it from a 2D film to a 3D one, and if I'm correct, he left Disney for good because he had a fit that they kept his design for the character. {c} - @Wednesday, December 8, 2010 3:30 AM

@lpsgirl7 Because of the similarities with his ears and teeth and cute expression. Also the directors of this movie are also the directors of Lilo and Stitch. And one of the directors (Chris Sanders) is the voice of Stitch. - @Sunday, October 24, 2010 2:45 AM

@j001m4l3370n3 yea but this isn't even loosely, hiccup is supposed to be wimpy scrawny and small like his pink lazy bum dragon and still manage to save the day, the book was perfect and funny as it was written, no changes were needed it would still be a perfect movie - @Tuesday, March 2, 2010 12:02 AM
