Set in the lower echelons of 1860s Paris, Therese Raquin, a sexually repressed beautiful young woman, is trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin, Camille, by her domineering aunt, Madame Raquin. Therese spends her days confined behind the counter of a small shop and her evenings watching Madame play dominoes with an eclectic group. After she meets her husband's alluring friend, Laurent, she embarks on an illicit affair that leads to tragic consequences.

My bad with regards to the stories being the same. However I do stand by my opinion that Audrey Tautou's film seems superior and more compelling than this one. Maybe this clip is just too short and/or I haven't been exposed to the story or characters enough to grasp the film's essence. But they're different movies lol This movie is based on the Emile Zola novel "Therese Raquin" and the french movie with Audrey Tatou is based on the novel "Thérèse Desqueyroux" by Francois Mauriac.
