Joe, a young American soldier, is hit by a mortar shell on the last day of World War I. He lies in a hospital bed in a fate worse than death - a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth and nose. He remains conscious and able to think, thereby reliving his life through strange dreams and memories, unable to distinguish whether he is awake or dreaming. He remains frustrated by his situation, until one day when Joe discovers a unique way to communicate with his caregivers.

Seen Serbian Film, Men Behind The Sun & Salo. Again didn't really bother me, just physically disgusted me. But it is all just "show" & doesn't really have much to say....TOO ME. MBTS was kinda offputting, cause it was basically a exploitation of the disturbing things behind 'the war machine'. So that kinda had an effect. This movie looks very disturbing....It's movies like this that I dread to watch (Apocolypse Now, Requiem for a Dream etc....) cause I feel that they'll expose something about my inner compass and society's psyche. Gimmie all those over-the-top slasher movies and I'll watch them eating a bloodied steak. They don't really bother me, as sick as they are. Surprise, surprise, when world war 2 broke out he withdrew the book because he feared it would convince Americans not to support the war against Germany. Some people even wrote him about being opposed American involvement and he responded by giving them up to the FBI.
