Johnny McQueen, leader of a clandestine Irish organization, has been hiding in the house of Kathleen and her mother, planning a hold-up that will provide his group with the funds needed to continue its activities. During the hold-up, things go sour: Johnny is wounded, cannot make it back to the hideout, and disappears in the back-alleys of Belfast. Immediately, a large-scale man-hunt is launched, and the city is tightly covered by the constabulary, whose chief is intent on capturing Johnny and the other members of the gang. Kathleen sets out in search of Johnny.

The tram at 0.30 has the destination for 'Falls Road' in Belfast. I know that the film was set in Belfast but I didn't know that it was actually filmed there too. - @Sunday, November 11, 2018 12:56 AM

This movie is a life changer. Came across it one summer night at 2am. Sucked me in. The night. the journey. The eccentric characters. I loved it. Still do. bar stools and bus stops. - @Friday, December 22, 2017 9:27 PM

This film was missing a kiss. With no kiss scene one feels that Kathleen and Johnny's love it's much more like loyalty. - @Tuesday, August 1, 2017 6:46 AM

OH wow... And I thought Carol Reed was just The Third Man. So this might be the Noir I always wanted (without the repetitive tune). - @Thursday, July 2, 2015 10:23 AM
