Story of a young woman, Mrs. McBain, who moves from New Orleans to frontier Utah, on the very edge of the American West. She arrives to find her new husband and family slaughtered, but by whom? The prime suspect, coffee-lover Cheyenne, befriends her and offers to go after the real killer, assassin gang leader Frank, in her honor. He is accompanied by Harmonica, a man already on a quest to get even.

I love the story that the 3 men at the begining were originally going to be Eastwood, Wallach, and I believe Van Cleef ( even though I know he died in GB&U) . Killing the characters off completely. The absolute best western ever made. And by the great Italian Director Sergio Leone. . I'm sure some will disagree since he also directed Eastwood's Man With No Name Trilogy, but the scope of this picture even out does "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Sad that an Italian Director bested American Directors with the best westerns ever made. Fonda does a great bad guy. And Bronson was an outstanding anti-hero, in one of his earlier roles. The ending tracking shot is filmed in one continuous shot showing Leone's true talent for filmmaking. American Directors learned a lot from him as you can see in later Hollywood Westerns made after Leone's "classic" westerns. You can see this in Eastwood's own westerns he directed. Peckinpah even shows signs of Leone in his own western classic, "The Wild Bunch",probably the best American Western ever made.
