Charles Sanford "Charlie" Babbit is a self-centered Los Angeles-based automobile dealer/hustler/bookie who is at war with his own life. Charlie, as a young teenager, used his father's 1949 Buick convertible without permission and as a result, he went to jail for two days on account that his father reported it stolen. It is then that Charlie learns that his estranged father died and left him from his last will and testament a huge bed of roses and the car while the remainder will of $3 Million goes into a trust fund to be distributed to someone. Charlie seemed pretty angry by this and decides to look into this matter. It seems as if that "someone" is Raymond, Charlie's unknown brother, an autistic savant who lives in a world of his own, resides at the Walbrook Institute. Charlie then kidnaps Raymond and decides to take him on a lust for life trip to the west coast as a threat to get the $3 Million inheritance. I just watched a little bit of Rainman on the TV with our Slovak dubbing and I am so incredibly angry of myself. Why? For multiple and several reasons. First of all I have a ,,terrible", ,,horrible" memory. I remember only (or ,,only") 400 dates of births, I really doubt that I have and I know the vocabulary of 500 000 english words, even though I would incredibly like to. I am terrible at math and I cannot calculate simple 1 234+1234 or more difficult 123456789+123456789. Or E=M.C2 is for me the most difficult equation that exist (I think for the mankind too). I am also terrible and absolutely bad at typing and guessing the numbers or amounts. So the memory is very important as a cognitive ability. Sometimes I feel like the most stupid person in the history of mankind. And according to IQ tests I have 130,2 IQ, but I fell less than 50 IQ. For example it would take me eternity to count 1 230 256 568 256 568 789 562+ 235 365 236 236 235 212 by heart. I really don´t know what it is like to have no memory.
