In 1944, the D-Day for the invasion of Normandy by the Allies has failed and Europe has not been released from the German forces. The men of an isolated Welsh village disappear and their wives believe that they have joined the resistance and soon German soldiers arrive at the village. The farmer Sarah Lewis and the German Commander Albrecht befriend to each other along the year.

This was a rubbish movie. That horse bit in the trailer was the most exciting part of it. That map in the cave was so damned confusing as well, I had no idea what it meant and it really needed a LOT more exposition as to what it represents and why it was there. They say that they want their audience to be active and question everything, and rely entirely on the audience's energy. I agree. More plausible to set the film in 1941, when the Germans would have had a very good chance of invading if they'd spent the winter building up for it instead of planning to attack the Soviet Union. Britain was on its knees by then. But date is a minor detail. I don't understand why some call it a bad film. The plot is very plausible and engaging, the acting excellent. The best movie made about if the Germans had occupied Britain must be It Happened Here, which was made in the 1960s. This movie looks good on the surface.
