Just finished reading the book and I'm so glad to find out there's a movie adaptation too! On a side note... wow, so much anti-semitism in the comments. Violence against religious minorities in the Middle-East is REAL, people! Read another book (other than holy books), learn the history and learn it well. Thousands, if not millions, of young Iranians who were against the regime were *brutally tortured or executed and their bodies were thrown in mass graves between 1980-1988.* Just google _"Iran Tribunal"_ and see the horrible testimonies from their families and some survivors. There are some records of Bahais who were persecuted between 1980-1988. Otherwise, most of the victims of this massacre came from ordinary "muslim" backgrounds and were adhering to communism, nationalism or marxism. They came from all walks of life and sorry to say this to Hollywood but none of them were Jewish. That's because most Jewish families in Iran were not politically affiliated and the newly installed Khomeiny-regime went only after the very few individuals who opposed to the regime. Jewish and Armenians families left Iran very fast and did not fall victim of the bloody massacres between 1980-1988. so in conclusion, this story is true but *it's not telling the REAL aftermath of the revolution.* But kudos for not representing Iran as a dry piece of land and Iranians as desert dwelling camel jockeys like most Hollywood movies tend to do. - @Friday, July 14, 2017 8:15 AM

Had seen a bunch of negative comments here. Saw the film finally today and first of all what a great film altogether. More seriously guys see the movie, they have shown even in the most theocratically oppressive regimes there is always that little bit of humanity left. Jews have suffered such horrifying hardships as have Yezids, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists, Animists, Jains, Christians, Muslims, every religious denomination in the World but the World has to wake up to the systemic global persecution of the Jews.
