00:30 the minute you see and hear him, you instantly know it's Michael Ironside... That voice has haunted me since Top Gun and Total Recall; I can't say I have ever seen this movie before those... :D - @Sunday, August 5, 2018 11:36 PM

Haven't seen this in 30 years but this wasn't bad.A young Molly Ringwald, and those maggot people or whatever they were think they tried to rip off star wars AND Alien. But not bad as far as a movie of this kind - @Friday, January 12, 2018 10:37 PM

< I saw this when it came out...the 3D was actually really great. Way better than most of the ones out in '83 during the 3d resurgence at that time. I think the best 3D effects were this and Friday the 13th. - @Wednesday, September 20, 2017 9:09 PM

This is a good rainy afternoon flick. Nobody made cheesy films like the 80s. Good fun. - @Tuesday, June 21, 2016 3:41 AM

But MOST of it, I'll note, actually takes place in a desert - not "outer space". Still, it's a likeable and enjoyable old flick, and did have some pretty decent 3d effects for the time. I remember seeing it in a theater with the red / blue  lensed cardboard specs and ducking my head a few times. - @Tuesday, May 10, 2016 2:15 AM

When 'Return of the Jedi' opened, my parents flat out refused to stand in the insanely long line for it, so we saw this instead. I still have it on VHS, purchased from the local flea market, as God intended. :) - @Tuesday, June 2, 2015 4:21 AM

To have a 3D space movie you must have a space battle that  is beyond Battle of Endor. Anything else are just ripp-off and company men theiving on fans. Such criminal act should be destroyed.   - @Monday, August 4, 2014 10:52 AM

All things considered, this had to be the 'best' of the early 80's 3D movies (which really isn't saying much). If you strip away the 3D gimmick, it's a pretty decent flick. Not great, by any stretch of the imagination, but watchable. Jaws 3D, Amittyville, Treasure of the Four Crowns, etc. are all inferior movies compared to this. - @Monday, July 14, 2014 3:16 AM

I actually saw this movie in theaters when it came out.  This was my first 3D movie, and I was disappointed. Not for the obvious reasons, but because of the minimal "comin at ya" effects. the majority of the effects were just showing distance between objects. The few "comin at ya" scenes were pretty cool, but that's about it. This would definitely be a "so bad, it's good/gather around and laugh" movie. - @Tuesday, May 20, 2014 11:09 AM

There were several of these 3D movies that popped up in the early 80's.  This was one of the better ones (visually).  Others were hit and miss.  We also had Jaws 3D, Friday the 13th III, Amityville 3D, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn, and a real crap-fest called "Treasure of the Four Crowns." - @Tuesday, March 25, 2014 7:00 PM

Strange: Nobody noticed the recent 30th anniversary of the opening of 'Return of the Jedi'. (1983.) I remember my parents bringing my brother and I to the theater, taking one look at the line for 'Jedi', and flat out refusing to bother. (We went back a week later.) Instead, we saw 'Spacehunter', which I still have on VHS, although not in 3-D. - @Friday, July 26, 2013 7:25 PM

The 3-D kept making people feel sick. Completely failed. Of course, 3D or no, there's no way to hide a bad story, no matter how many effects you drop on a film. Michael Ironside was cool though. - @Friday, May 24, 2013 11:49 PM
