Henry (Ryan Gosling) have an accident car, Sam (Ewan McGregor) is in the car of his back, so go to help him. Henry is in coma and he come into Sam imagining that he is Sam and living his (fake) life. The character of Naomi Watts go to help him too, that's because he imagine that Naomi is the wife of Sam. @JspChristineRh The car crash at the beginning of the movie was the only real event, with Henry the main character having hallucinated the rest in the midst of death. Sams gf mentions to him fairly early in the movie that she doesnt want to be forgotten and neither did henry. He portrays himself a lot through hidden Metaphors in the movie. Like when the boy loses his balloon and the guy carnt catch it, thats a symbol for release, freedom, to soar without a care and the fact his mother says they can go and get another one which could symbolise life, the fact that people (like the balloon) pass away and others are born. - @Sunday, January 27, 2013 1:00 PM

Also... representation of the dreamworld- i believe that the movie was a combination of henry wanting to do good before he allowed himself to go, he brought two lovers together, saved the life of sams gf by bringing the two together because this would have happened had they not met, he proposed to athena who became the angel, the last thing he saw before he passed away, he gave his father sight back, used sams character to gain forgiveness from his mother, saved the life of his friend. - @Sunday, January 27, 2013 12:57 PM

This is one amasing movie, still i think u need some brain to get it fully, its filled up with symbolism and metaphors. hamlet- henrys last name was letham which is hamlet backwards, hamlet faced the same torment that henry felt, that of survivor guilt, just as hamlet murdered his wife, henry had (through no fault of his own) caused the death of innocents. Both hamlet and henry had the choice to stay among the living or cross over. This is only 1 of the symbolism in this incredible good movie. - @Sunday, January 27, 2013 12:54 PM

It's very well acted. It's also pretentious. It's a rollercoaster ride. It's still predictable. It's filmed perfectly. It has little plot. It's a emotionally engaging - if intellectually stunted. It drops a lot of clues, to one of the least interesting revelations a film could have. It's certainly surreal, but not especially honest. Some will (and do) think of it as a kind of masterpiece, but it's a mixed bag if ever their was one. I say give it a shot anyway, there's some great direction. - @Sunday, September 23, 2012 9:00 AM

I didn't understand a thing when watching this movie, I didn't really care about it either, but when it got to the last scene I was paralyzed, despite still not getting the plot at all. Staring at the TV screen, I didn't even realize that the people I was watching it with fell asleep. There is something with that scene that made me cry and it left me with an eerie feeling for hours afterwards, I don't even know why.
